LCW Showdown at the Chase IV Television Special Results 09.30.06

Showdown at the Chase IV (September 30, 2006) live from the Chase-Park Plaza Hotel in St. Louis, MO.

Tonight’s special edition of “Showdown” is dedicated to the memory of St. Louis wrestling promoter, Sam Muchnick (1905-1998) and his legendary wrestling program, “Wrestling at the Chase” (1959-1983).

In the back, LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway arrived with The Ultimate Warrior and they were approached by Sean Mooney. Calaway promised Warrior would win the LCW Universal Championship from Nikita Koloff tonight. Mooney said he wasn’t sure about that and went to ask another question, but Calaway interrupted him and said since he wasn't so sure about it, he could put his job on the line. Calaway said if Warrior wins, someone else would be asking him the questions because Mooney would be fired from Legends Championship Wrestling. As Calaway walked away he asked Warrior, "I wonder what Todd Pettengill's doing these days?" Warrior and Calaway laughed as they walked away.

Kevin Von Erich defeated LCW Heritage Champion Greg Valentine in 9:10 by submission with the claw to win the LCW Heritage Championship. During the end of the match, The Honky Tonk Man and Jimmy Hart tried to interfere, but Bob Backlund and Jimmy Snuka came out and stopped them from interfering. Moments earlier, Greg Valentine stomped on Kevin Von Erich's hand, breaking his cast. Von Erich used the cast as a weapon, hitting Valentine on the head and busting him wide open. Von Erich then tore at the cast and ripped it off before, while screaming in pain, he applied the claw. After the match, Tony Schiavone and Jesse Ventura both applauded Kevin Von Erich's heroic effort as Backlund and Snuka helped the new Heritage Champion to the back.

In the back, Slick approached LCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel and asked him for a match for Jake Roberts. Bockwinkel said he would have to verify with Roberts that Slick was really representing him.

LCW United States Champion Diamond Dallas Page (with Kimberly Page) defeated Lex Luger (with Madusa Micelli) in 7:45 by pinfall after the Diamond Cutter. After the match, Kimberly hit Madusa with the Diamond Cutter.

In the back, LCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel approached Jake Roberts and asked him if Slick was really representing him. Roberts thought for a moment and then reluctantly said, "He's helping me with something. Just give him whatever he wants." Bockwinkel asked Roberts if he was sure and Roberts said he was. Bockwinkel said, "If you're sure."

LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Hart Foundation defeated Mike Rotundo and Barry Windham and The Nasty Boys (with Missy Hyatt) in 6:18 in a triple threat match when Bret Hart pinned Jerry Sags after the Hart Attack.

In the back, Slick approached LCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel and said, "Is everything cool now, my brother?" Bockwinkel said everything was fine and Slick asked him if he had found an opponent for Jake Roberts and Bockwinkel said he hadn't really thought about it. Slick said he had a suggestion: Dusty Rhodes. Bockwinkel said if that was fine with Rhodes, it was fine with him. Slick said he had already cleared it with Rhodes and he accepted the challenge. Bockwinkel said that everything seemed to be in order. After Slick left the office and turned the corner, Kevin Sullivan was waiting for him and Slick said, "I told you my brother, everything would be fine. I'll have Mr. Roberts serve up "The American Dream" on a silver platter and then you can move in for the kill." Slick and Sullivan laughed as they walked away.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

LCW International Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated The Dynamite Kid in 10:21 by disqualification after The Ultimate Warrior interfered and attacked Austin after the referee was accidentally knocked out moments before. Dynamite Kid attacked Warrior and knocked him out of the ring and then hit Austin with the flying headbutt before covering him for the pin. However, the ring bell rang without the referee making the count. Ring announcer Gary Michael Capetta then announced that the winner as a result of disqualification and still LCW International Champion was Stone Cold Steve Austin. The referee explained to Dynamite Kid that as he was regaining consciousness, he saw Warrior interfere and attack Austin. Dynamite Kid attacked the referee with a belly-to-back suplex as the referee turned around to walk away after explaining to Dynamite Kid what he saw.

In the back, LCW Universal Champion Nikita Koloff and his uncle and manager Ivan Koloff arrived at the arena in a Hummer.

After the match, Kevin Sullivan came out and attacked Dusty Rhodes. Roberts attacked Sullivan and went to hit him with the DDT, but Slick told him not to and pulled one of the plastic baggies with white powder out of his pocket and said, "If you want more, you'll stop." An upset Roberts dropped Sullivan and walked out of the ring.

In the back, Larry Matysik interviewed LCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel who announced that the LCW Board of Directors had decided that The Ultimate Warrior's match tonight would not only be the Caged Heat rematch like LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway said a few weeks ago on LCW Showdown, it would also be his Caged Heat Elimination Chamber match win title shot.

The Blackjacks defeated Terry and Dory Funk, Jr., Jack and Jerry Brisco, and Rocky Johnson and Tony Atlas in 9:35 by pinfall when Blackjack Mulligan pinned Rocky Johnson after the Double Down spike piledriver while The Briscos and The Funks brawled in the entrance way in a number one contenders, fatal fourway match to become the number one contenders for the LCW United States Tag Team Championships.

In the back, Slick talked with Jake Roberts and said, "See my brother. I told you. All you needed was the stuff and everything would turn around and it's already started." Roberts said Slick was right and he told Slick he needed more stuff. Slick said he couldn't just give the stuff away. Roberts said money was tight, but he was good for it and he would keep doing favors for Slick, but Slick said that wasn't good enough. Slick said he needed to sell the snake for the cash. Roberts said he couldn't do that and Slick got in Roberts face and said, "If you want more stuff and if you want more of my help, you'll do whatever it takes. As a matter of fact, I know someone who's in the market for a new snake." Roberts put his head down, sighed deeply, grabbed his snake bag, and the two men walked away.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Billy Jack Haynes and Paul Orndorff defeated King Kong Bundy and One Man Gang (with Bobby Heenan) in 4:59 by disqualification after Haynes attacked Orndorff and put him in the full nelson, refusing the release the hold until security officials came out and pulled him off of Orndorff. While Haynes had Orndorff in the full nelson, Gang and Bundy attacked Orndorff and Bobby Heenan hit Orndorff with a steel chair, busting him wide open.

In the back, Slick and Jake Roberts met with Kevin Sullivan and Slick forced Roberts to give his snake to Sullivan. Roberts reluctantly handed the snake bag to Sullivan.
